Permits

Construction Permits

The Wentzville Fire Protection District provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services for the City of Wentzville, City of Foristell, City of Dardenne Prairie, Village of Flint Hill, Village of Josephville, as well as portions of the City of Lake St. Louis, and the City of O’Fallon.  The remainder of the district is unincorporated St. Charles County.

The Wentzville Fire Protection District issues permits for building construction, commercial use (occupancy), bonfires, open burning, and commercial fireworks.  The private use of recreational fireworks may be prohibited by certain city ordinances (please check with your municipality).  We strongly discourage the use of fireworks due to their dangerous nature.

Completed building permit applications must be submitted with 2 sets of drawings and a plot plan with residential.  The applicant will be notified when permits is ready to be picked up and paid for.  No work may begin prior to permit issuance.

Inspections

Occupancy Permits

Occupancy permits are required by the Wentzville Fire Protection District for owner or tenants to occupy or re-occupy existing commercial spaces or to newly constructed space.  The City and the County may also require an occupancy permit to be issued as well.  The application is not a permit itself.

There are amendments to the above codes, as well as local Ordinances dealing with fire hydrants, hazardous materials, street sizes and other fire related codes which are available by contacting us.

 

How many prints are required to be submitted along with application?

Commercial -2 sets

Residential (Custom, Subdivision, Room Addition, Basement Finish) -2 sets and a plot plan unless mastered then application and plot plan.


How many sets of prints will be returned? 

1 set of prints will be returned to you.

 

Are they required to be signed or sealed and by whom?

Commercial Plans & Sprinkler Plans, must be signed and sealed (copies will be accepted) by a Missouri Registered Design Professional (a Registered Architect or Professional Engineer).  Residential need not be signed and sealed 

Are numbers required on residential homes ?

Yes... shall have the number so displayed on the dwelling in a position easily observed and readable from the public right-of-way.  All numbers shall be in Arabic figures at least four (4) inches high and one half (1/2) inch wide stroke. All such numbers shall be contrasting color to the background to which they are mounted.
